Local historical accounts trace the origins of the property to a prosperous merchant family. Its stature remains visible today in the dressed stone corner blocks, generous ceiling heights, wide oak floors and balanced classical proportions.

At one point in its long history, the residence even served as a small sanatorium, when Laparade was known for the purity of its air and elevated setting.

Originally, the land extended to the edge of the bastide, offering uninterrupted views across the valley. During the Napoleonic period, part of the grounds was reshaped into the present Rue du Rocher — a historical evolution that explains the property’s unique position today: central yet protected, open yet discreetly elevated.
