LAPARADE

 bastide

Laparade Photo Aérienne

In the 13th and 14th centuries, as Europe's population and trade grew, the bastides, the villes neuves du Moyen Age, emerged. They were elaborated with geometric precision. The streets are arranged like a checkerboard around the central market square.

At the time, the bastides had an important military-strategic role in the battle between the French and English kings.

Every Tuesday evening in July and August, and on the first Tuesday of September, a gourmet market is held in Laparade, right outside our door.  It is best to bring your own tablecloth, glasses, plates and cutlery and join the long tables in the square. There are all kinds of goodies to eat and there is always dancing during the music performance. This market is very well known and people come here from all over the area.
